Ohana AU

Due to little being known about the 5 year gap between the events of Infinity War and Endgame Cassie is being written as an AU.

Due to Scott being trapped in the Quantum Realm it was assumed he was dusted like Hope Van Dyne and her parents. So Cassie was shipped back to her mom and her boyfriend during this period. Especially since given the fallout from the snap (its not pretty to say the least, the cults popping up are bad enough) it was decided till Scott's fate was known Cassie would remain with them. But she kept looking for her dad and Hope (not knowing she was dusted till a few months later, she and her parents had been listed as missing persons till the dust was discovered). She also discovered her dad's crew including Luis had been dusted but nobody could locate the van (for now acting as the Quantum Tunnel but she has no idea of this). The van at the moment is stuck in a storage locker till Endgame.

5 years pass, she mourns and eventually tries to move on. However she is no longer the smiley little girl she was. Cassie (now 16) has gone dark, depressed (complete with stint in counseling), snarky (and not the funny kind) and a bit angry. The smallest things set her off and she even embraced stealing (but it never went beyond midnight fridge raids, showing the real Cassie was still there somewhere). Just don't ask about the time she threw a glass into a door in a fit of rage...

But cue Scott's return (complete with emotional reunion) and the events of Endgame. Cassie does find out what happened over the following month post film, which while explaining a lot leaves its share of questions. Plus she lost yet more time with her dad, not helping things either. So post blip she's living with Scott and Hope (plus hanging out with Luis), regaining bonds with them and trying to heal. But she still remembers and will never forget what she lost and gained back. The last 5 years have been about survival, now she can regain her true self and start the healing process.

But she's very much Scott's kid at heart. Her smile quickly returns with time along with her sense of humor, she does bring a now infamous horn ring tone along after all. She's also just as smart, her strength being in science just like Scott.

She has work ahead but she'll come out stronger and with more smiles and one liners.

Who is Cassie Lang? Cassie started as a very happy little girl in the films who just misses her dad and over time wants to become a superhero like him. But after the Snap she embraced a dark side heavy on rage and depression. The train may make things worse but at heart that happy Cassie is still there, she's just in hiding.

What does she like, dislike and fear? She is shown to love ugly and terrifying objects like the stuffed rabbit Scott gave her as a birthday present, and the giant ant Scott accidentally made while fighting Yellowjacket in the first film, she kept it as a pet. She lives in fear of losing her family and Hope, only made worse post Snap. On a lighter note she hates cooked carrots (headcanon) and being treated like a child. Yes she would adopt a Pokémon or weird alien animal. :)

What makes her her? Cassie is very much Scott's kid but Hope has been a part of her life too. While she wants to prove herself at the same time she lost more time with Scott, who is more like her best friend thanks to a strong bond. She can white lie like a pro and is becoming a good thief, for now just raiding fridges. She also loves fast food and gadgets along with a good prank, yes that van horn ringtone will be handy. ;)

You've mentioned her being darker and more depressed and anger, is this something assumed for the AU? Or did she show tendencies for such things as a child? Or was it something that happened during the snap and the subsequent five years? This happened over the period between the Snap and the Blip. Its a stark contrast between the happy little girl she was in the Ant Man films to her current self post Endgame.
